Veterans Services: Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP/Chapter 1607)
The Reserve Educational Assistance Program (Chapter 1607 or REAP) was established in 2005 to provide educational benefits to reservists who were activated to war or national emergency after September 11, 2001. Selected reserve components include the Army Reserve, Naval Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard and Air National Guard. This benefit provides eligible veterans a housing allowance while they are enrolled in an accredited program.
Basic Eligibility requires a 6 year obligation to serve in the Selected Reserve and satisfactory participation in required Selected Reserve training. Follow the link below for more information about eligibility.
Students should apply for benefits at least three months before they plan to start school. Students who have confirmed enrollment at WWU should contact the Veterans Services Office as soon as they receive a Letter of Eligibility form the VA.
