A degree is the ultimate goal but should not be your only goal while at Western. Understanding the degree requirements for graduation will give you flexibility and direction to decide on internships, studying abroad, working, and time to graduation. | ||||

Requirement | Explanation | |||
| 50-73 | General University Requirements | Must be satisfied by all students. Transfer students with an AA from a Washington State Community College have met the requirement. Learn how your transfer credits were evaluated by checking your Transfer Equivalency Report in Web4U. | |||
| 55-110 | Major | An area of specialization. 50% of credits must be completed at Western Washington University. Classes must be passed with a C- or better. Professional Education and Teaching Endorsement courses must be completed with a C or better. | |||
| 0-90 | Electives or minor | Your choice. These credits satisfy the 180 needed for graduation. | |||
| 60 upper division credits | 300 & 400 level courses | ||||
| 45 credits from WWU | Must include one Western course in the quarter in which you graduate | ||||
| Writing Proficiency | An upper division course, typically in the major, designated writing proficiency. Must be completed with a C- or better. | ||||
| GPA standard | A cumulative WWU GPA of at least 2.0. Some majors require a higher GPA. | ||||
