Major - Visual Journalism
Hometown - East Wenatchee, WA
I have worked hard my entire high school career to get into the college of my dreams. Little did I know that my childhood dream of attending WWU would come true my senior year of high school. I am privileged to have parents who will help me get through my first four years of college, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t try and help them along the way. So I decided to work all throughout high school to save up some extra money. I decided that wasn’t enough and soon found myself applying for scholarships. I thought anything would help. When I came across this scholarship I thought it was perfect. My cousin loved going to Western and I love volunteering, which made me feel like I had a great chance at this scholarship.
“This new found passion has carried me into my goals at Western and my future. I have high hopes to major in Western’s Visual Journalism program with a minor in Business Administration.”
I was at work when Western called to inform me of getting the scholarship, so after work I listened to the message and about jumped for joy. All my hard work paid off! I was able to give my parents that $1,000 for a school year. Not only will it help them, but it will help me relax and just focus on the adjustment I will soon be making from high school to college.
I love to volunteer. I am already looking into different opportunities there, especially Compass2Campus! So after I get settled in at WWU, I plan on getting an on campus job to get more involved in the Western community.
