““I have learned a lot about myself as well as about other people.  I would definitely say that I have grown into a more understanding, curious and caring individual.”

Since I first arrived at Western I've worked to be a part of the education community. I've volunteered with several programs in many different schools in the Bellingham/Lynden area. I like working with kids and I wanted to get as much experience as possible before beginning my student teaching internship. My full-time internship starts in the fall so I began looking for extra funding to help support me through the experience.

Receiving this scholarship has positively impacted my life. I can really focus on getting as much out of my internship as possible, without having to worry about money or the lack thereof. I'm so honored to have received this kind of funding and I am definitely going to give my all in the last quarters I have before graduation.

I enjoy making art, playing video games, backpacking, working/playing with kids and reading comics.

I have a plan or a goal for what I'm going to do with my life. It's evolving and growing and adapting constantly, but I've had it for a long time. I live each day of my life knowing where I am going. This helps me to see every moment as an opportunity or a lesson which will help me reach my goal. This keeps me alert and willing to try new things. I'm always ready to learn more.
