“I consider your choice a great honor and I deeply appreciate your support."
I am attending Western Washington University to study Early Childhood Education. One of my greatest passions is working with children and I look forward to having a career that allows me to live out my passion daily. I currently live this passion by volunteering in my local church daycare, where I have dedicated over 190 hours. My educational goal is to graduate with at least a 3.95 GPA as I did in high school. Through my academic achievements, I hope to be a positive influence to my five younger siblings, showing them that with hard work and determination, they are capable of achieving their goals. After seeing their older sister go to college and getting to visit Western’s campus, I have heard my siblings tell me they want to go to college too. That was so remarkable to hear, especially since education is not as highly valued in the Ukrainian culture. It encouraged me to keep striving for academic success because I see how it could change the dreams of my siblings.
By receiving the Alumni Association Leader Scholarship, I am one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a teacher. This scholarship allows me to continue with my education and motivates me to continue working hard in my academic and extracurricular pursuits.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” (Colossians 3:23). The key to my academic success lies in my faith. With every test, assignment, or project, I strive to do my best in order to bring God glory. This work ethic and mentality also applies to all other areas in my life such as in my job, community service and relationships.
When I am not studying, I enjoy working out at Wade King Recreation Center, going to Boulevard Park or spending time with my friends.
