“The length of my education makes this award even more valuable to me."

I received this scholarship leading into my sophomore year at WWU. In my first year at Western, I quickly became involved at school and in the greater Bellingham community. My enthusiasm and passion for my new home has helped me to get the most out of my education thus far.

When I found out I had received this scholarship I was very happy. The funds that this scholarship will provide will help me to pay for my sophomore year and delay using student loans for my education.

At school I loved to play intramural sports through the rec center. I also work as a Student Admissions Representative through the Office of Admissions and I am also employed with Phonathon through the Foundation Office. I love to go hiking and running. I also like to volunteer in the community and have gotten involved with the Center for Service Learning on campus. And of course, I love going to Western sporting events!

My first year at Western overall has definitely impacted my life. As I sit at home thinking back on everything that happened my freshman year, it makes me very excited to return to Bellingham in the fall. Being a Western student has changed my life for the better and I can't wait to see where it will continue to take me.
