“I’m proud to be a part of this university and can’t wait to make Western my new home as I begin my freshman year this fall.”
I have always wanted to attend a four-year university after high school, but finances have made this dream hard to achieve. I live in a single-parent household, which means funding my college education is harder. At school, I have work hard to excel in my classes and extracurricular activities. There have been many long days that contained a golf match followed by a band concert followed by studying for my AP exams. This fall when I attend Western Washington University I plan on bringing this same dedication to all I do; whether it be studying for a test or applying for scholarships.
I am honored to receive this scholarship. With this scholarship I will be able to attend Western loan-free! The Western Alumni Association is funding the future through the numerous scholarships they award students. I am honored that they decided my future was one worth funding.
My mom is one of my greatest heroes. She has always been able to provide for my needs, even when it's difficult to do so. My Mom graduated from Western in 1987. She was excited to take me to the Western Fall Welcome for Prospective Students last year and was even more excited to take me to the Western Preview Day for Accepted Students this year! Even though she majored in chemistry and I will be majoring in accounting, I can't wait to follow her footsteps this upcoming fall!
When I'm not studying you can find me reading a book. I love classical literature and own multiple copies of Walden Pond by Henry Thoreau. One of my favorite books is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. In addition to classical literature, I enjoy reading modern book series like Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling and Septimus Heap by Angie Sage.
