“WWU just feels right to me, both my parents and many family members have attended Western and it must be in my blood!”
Since both of my parents and many of my family members attended Western Washington University, I thought it would be a good idea to apply for the Alumni scholarship. Their experiences at Western had an influence on my choice to attend and carry on the Viking legacy. The Alumni scholarship seemed appropriate as it is a way of recognizing that legacy that my parents set forth.
This scholarship has not only relieved some of the financial burden of high school but will allow for me to maintain a high academic standard in school. To be honored with this scholarship means that I will be a part of the alumni tradition and will keep my academic standard high because of that.
I think one of the most important experiences I've had so far in my life has been my involvement in the band program at my school. I've been playing flute since the fifth grade and through my eight years in the music program I have had great experiences, made new friends, and expanded my love for music and the arts.
Though my life in high school has been defined by music, so has my life outside of high school. In my free time I like to immerse myself in music by learning new instruments and finding new genres and bands to listen to. I also love watching movies and creating art.
