Scholars Week
May 17 - 18, 2012

The Anthropology Department and the Anthropology Club are putting out a call for Scholars Week papers and posters.

This is fantastic opportunity to build your resume, gain some recognition, and get some experience with a conference like atmosphere!

The Deadline for entry submission is April 16th.
Anthropology Department Symposium Days are May 16th and 17th.

Scholars Week is an annual celebration of undergraduate student work research at WWU. Participants in the Anthropology Department portion of Scholars Week present a paper or poster with the Department as well as the general campus community.

Description of the Paper Presentations:

You will be placed in a Session of 5 people with a similar topic. You will have 12 minutes to present using Power Point or other Visual Media with 3 minutes for Question and Answer.

Description of Poster Presentations:

The Scholars Week Organizing Committee announces the annual
All-University Scholars Poster Session held on Thursday, May 16 (10 am – 2 pm) and Friday, May 17 (10 am – 2 pm). Anthropology Department posters will be showcased in Artzen Hall 3rd floor, specific date and time TBA.

We will have a workshop on "How to Give a Presentation" for everyone who is presenting, to teach professional presentation skills.

Call for Papers and Posters
Scholars Week: Thursday and Friday
May 20-21, 2010

Scholars Week is a campus wide showcase of student work and research at Western Washington University. Participants in the Anthropology Department portion of Scholars Week receive recognition of their work by presenting a paper/poster that they are passionate about and want to share with the Department as well as the general campus community. And if this is not reason enough, it is also fantastic opportunity to practice public speaking and build your resume.
 
To submit your abstract for consideration:
post a 100 word abstract and answer the short survey found on the Survey Monkey link below:

If you will be submitting a poster, please be aware of the following:

    1. Your poster will be hung in the 3rd floor of Arntzen Hall during Scholars Week.

    2. You will be responsible for a short, scheduled "Poster Session" during which you will answer questions about your poster.

To Submit Your Paper or Poster:

  • Send the title of the paper or poster, and an abstract (approx 100 word brief overview of information to be presented).

  • Include your name, contact info, and indicate whether you would prefer to present on Thursday (20) or Friday (21). 

  • Also let us know if you will require any media (powerpoint, video, etc), and what size or format your poster is. 
    Please suggest a session for your paper to be included in.  We will group presentations into sessions, but could we could use your help in figuring out where your work would best fit.

  • Papers: 15 minutes, PowerPoints encouraged
    Posters: free-standing or hanging
    We also welcome any ideas for Roundtable Disscussions.
