Prerequisites
Undergraduate major in anthropology or equivalent in social sciences, or departmental permission: candidates with insufficient backgrounds in anthropological history, or theory and methods, will be expected to take undergraduate courses as deemed necessary by the graduate program advisor. There is a stats requirement, if a stats course was not taken in undergraduate coursework the student will be required to complete one at Western Washington University.
Degree Requirement is 45 credits consisting of the following:
*Note: 3 crs of Anth 690 are required. Not more than 12 crs of Anth 690 will apply to 45 cr degree requirement
Electives in Specialization
Courses selected under advisement from 400-level* or 500-level courses in anthropology *Note: No more than 10 crs of 400-level courses can be applied to graduate degree. At least 35 crs must at the 500 or 600-level.
Supporting Courses
Where appropriate to the student's specialty interests, the candidate may elect up to 15 crs from a related discipline.
Time Limit
All requirements for the degree must be completed within 5 years of the initial quarter of registration.
