To Community
I consult largely on forensic cases and have since the early 1980’s, then largely for the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Department, a few times for Dr. Gary Goldfogel, Whatcom County Medical Examiner and a couple of times for Alfred Reid, professional archaeologist who works locally in Whatcom County. In the summer of 1998, I consulted for the Colville Tribe regarding the nature of DNA versus osteological evidence and methodology for assessing ethnicity of ancestral remains (e.g. Kennewick Man). January 1999 I consulted for the Blaine Police Department regarding the remains of a Native American eroding out through water action at 45-WH-17. Three weeks of summer 1999 I determined minimum number of individuals etc. for Lummi remains that were shipped to Denver. I’ve also worked with them since relative to their court cases and was deposed in March 2003; the case was settled in the spring of 2004 (in Lummi Nation’s favor). In spring of 2002 I consulted one day with the Tulalip Tribe’s lab people working with remains at a tentative home site off Priest Point Drive, N.E. on their reservation.
