Information for Prospective Students
Thank you for your interest in the programs offered by the Department of Art at Western Washington University. The Department of Art is part of the College of Fine and Performing Arts. Together with the Western Gallery and the Outdoor Sculpture Collection, our Department provides one of the best undergraduate programs for the arts in the region.
Application Information and Process
These programs are designed to enhance artistic and intellectual inquiry across and within disciplines. Program classes and workshops combine practice in visual skills with rigorous critical analyses, providing an environment that fosters lively dialogue and energetic engagement. Artists, art historians, and art educators, with innovative yet well-established approaches to teaching, offer a variety of courses that include art education, art history, art theory and criticism, ceramics, drawing, fibers/fabrics, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. The faculty is dedicated to the preparation and sponsorship of students in their post-graduate professional careers.
Separate from the Admissions application to Western Washington University, a formal application to the Department of Art is required for Studio Art, Art Education, and Art History.
