Protecting Money Never carry large amounts of cash. Always use traveler’s checks and credit cards. Keep a copy of your traveler’s check and credit card numbers in a separate location to refer to if they are lost or stolen. Never show large amounts of cash, when paying for things or checking into a hotel. If you wear a money belt or passport holder wear clothes over it. Check your credit cards every day. If your credit cards are missing, call your credit card company immediately. Write down the phone number of your credit card company and keep it separate from your credit card.
