News*Keep up with Viking Baseball* -5/14/12- After finishing the season strong, the Vikings were unable to come up with a win at the regional tournement in La Grande, OR over the weekend. They lost their first game to Utah State with a score of 1-7 and then the following day they lost 3-6 to Seattle University. Congratulations to the team on another strong season. A big shout out goes to the seniors who have made the regional playoffs every year and nationals once. WWU Baseball has been a strong contender for many years and will continue to be a contender in the future. -5/11/12- WWU Baseball suffered a tough 1-7 loss today against Utah State in the first round of the regional playoffs. They will be playing as the wildcard, facing Utah State University in the first round. Click the link below to view the regional bracket for this weekend -4/29/12- WWU Baseball took all three games against Central Oregon Community College!!! They are currently leading the division while Seattle University has one game left to play. They did what they had to do and now will have to wait to see if they can make it in the playoffs!!! -4/23/12- The Vikings had a huge turnaround this weekend winning all three games against Oregon State which they had to do to stay in playoff contention!!! This weekend they are hosting Central Oregon Community College in their last home series of the year. They need all the support they can get to earn a playoff spot this year. Come out to Joe Martin Stadium and enjoy some WWU Baseball!!! -4/16/12- WWU Baseball had a tough time down in Oregon this last weekend. The first game was a nail-biter until the end but the team came up short, losing 1-2. The second game the bats came alive for both teams and the Viks got the better of the Ducks winning 16-9. On Sunday, the Vikings were unable to come up with a win, losing with a score of 2-7. The team will travel back down to Oregon again this weekend to play Oregon State University for some must win games. -4/12/12- New pictures have been posted from the Portland State Series! The Vikings will traveling down to Eugene, Oregon this weekend to take on the Univesity of Oregon, wish'em luck!!! -4/9/12- Tough weekend for WWU Baseball winning only 1 of 3 against defending conference champs, Seattle University. The Vikings started out strong on Friday night with a solid pitching performance by Matt Burrows and some power hitting from Dane Siegfried. The Viks took that game 4-1. On Saturday the bats just couldn't get going and the team suffered loses with scores of 0-4 and 3-11. The Vikings look to turn it around this weekend down in Eugene, Oregon against the University of Oregon. -4/3/12- The Vikings have rescheduled the games versus Seattle University for this weekend. The first game will be on Friday (4/6) at 7:00pm @ Joe Martin Stadium. There will be a double header on Saturday (4/7) starting at 12:00 (noon), also at Joe Martin Stadium. Come out and support!!! -4/2/12- The games scheduled for this last weekend were cancelled due to rain. The team is hoping to reschedule them for this coming weekend. Check here or on Facebook for updates. -3/27/12- Over the weekend WWU Baseball hosted their home opener against Portland State University. They took all three games with scores of 5-0, 6-4, and 15-4. The team recorded their first loss of the season against a talented Skagit Valley College team on monday night with a score of 4-8. The Vikings are playing their first league games this coming weekend against Seattle University at Joe Martin Stadium. Come out and support!!! *Stats from the first 7 games are now posted. Click on the link in the menu bar above to view them. -3/24/12- WWU Baseball is taking on Portland State University this weekend at Joe Martin Stadium. Come out at show your support! Congrats to the WWU Basketball team who are playing in the Division II National Championship in Kentucky!!! -3/12/12- WWU Baseball is hosting the University of Idaho this weekend for a 3-game series at Joe Martin Stadium. Everyone cross your fingers for some good weather! -3/9/12- The games against Shoreline that were schedule for this weekend have been cancelled due to poor field conditions. The next games with be on March 17th and 18th against the University of Idaho. -2/27/12- WWU Baseball had a great start to the season defeating the College of Western Idaho in all three games over the weekend. Stats and game results will be posted soon. -2/20/12- The alumni game was cancelled this weekend due to poor weather. It may be re-scheduled at a later date so stayed tuned for that. WWU Baseball is traveling to Boise, Idaho this coming weekend (2/25-2/26) to play their first pre-season games of the year against the College of Western Idaho. Time to get the season started!!! The schedule had been updated again so go check out the new games. The PDF version was also updated. - 1/26/12 - The schedule has been updated with a few new pre-season games added on. An updated roster will be coming soon! The 2012 season is just around the corner and the guys have been working hard. They have their sights set high this year, hoping for a return to nationals! - 10/25/11 - The 2012 schedule is now posted on the Schedule/Results page. More non-league games will be entered once they are scheduled. This year the Northern Pacific Conference was split into three divisions (North, South, and West). The Vikings continue to be in the NoPac West playing with Oregon, Oregon State (new), Seattle University, and Central Oregon Community College. - 5/30/11 - The Vikings World Series run has ended with a loss to Florida State, 1-2. Eric Moberly put in an amazing performance, pitching 8-innings and only giving up 2 runs on 7 hits. The Viking hitters put up 1 run in the first inning but after that were held scoreless through the rest of the game. This has been an amazing season for WWU Baseball, winning the regional playoffs for the first time and earning a berth to nationals. At nationals the Viks made a statement winning their first game 17-5 against the 2-seed in the tournament. The success of this season will hopefully lead to future appearances in the World Series. - 5/1/11 - Solid end to the regular season for WWU Baseball, winning 2 of 3 over the Ducks of Oregon. Good pitching all around. Matt Burrows had another outstanding performance throwing a 5-inning shutout with strikeouts in the double digits. A couple standouts on offense were Joe Fike and Shane McKinley, each hitting homeruns over the weekend. On Sunday McKinley went 3-3 with 2 doubles and a single along with a pair of stolen bases. - 4/27/11 - Rough weekend in Bend, Oregon for WWU Baseball, winning only 1 of 3 games. On Saturday the scores were 3-7 and 3-6 but on Sunday the bats came alive with the Viking hitters putting up 15 runs leading to a 15-8 victory. The Vikings are playing in their last regular season series this weekend against the Oregon Ducks. There will be updates soon about where the games will played. - 4/17/11 - WWU Baseball had a great weekend against Eastern Washington University!!! On Saturday they took both games of the double header winning 16-0 and 2-0. On Sunday the Viks won 5-1 in 9 innings. The pitching staff had an amazing weekend only giving up 1 run through three games! Standout effort from newcomer Matt Burrows. In the 9 inning game on Sunday he threw a complete game giving up only 2 hits and 1 run with strikeouts in the double digits! Alan Kennedy and Corey Ferguson had homeruns while John Barney continued to tear it up on the base paths! - 3/31/11 - MLB regular season starts this week and so does ours!!! Viks are playing Seattle University this weekend at Bobby Morris Field in Seattle. Games are at 8:00pm on Saturday and 11:00am and 1:30am on Sunday. Come out and help the Viks get the season started off right! - 5/10/10 - WWU Baseball put a great showing at regionals in La Grande, Oregon but in the end were defeated by Weber State in the championship games. It was another solid season for the Viks, winning the NoPac West for the 2nd year in a row and winning every series they played in! A big thanks goes out to all the seniors on the team, especially to head coach Adam Cochran. Adam battled with an arm injury this year but did a great job leading the Viks throughout the season. The Vikings are returning a majority of the team next year so hopes are high for getting back to regionals and taking another shot at nationals!!! |
