- Brian Sullivan, BS, Assistant Vice President, overseeing Business Services, Financial Services, Financial Systems and Internal Control.
Business Services oversees all of the business areas of Western. Areas include: Purchasing (Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Contract Administration, PCard and Travel Services); Support Services (Central Stores, Equipment Inventory, Surplus Sales, Transport Services and Mail Services); Contract Administration and Real Estate Services.
Financial Services oversees all of the financial aspects and some business areas of Western. Areas included under this department are: Student Business Office (Student Accounts, Loans and Collection and Cashier), Accounting Services (Financial Reporting and G/L Accounting); and Treasury Services (Cash Investment Management and Box Office).
Financial Systems works side by side with business owners to deliver best in class business processes. The department focuses on three key areas: a) Process analysis and project management; b) Functional systems support; and, c) Hardware support.
Internal Control assists management, faculty and staff in their stewardship role in achieving the University's objectives, and serves to provide guidance for basic and consistent business controls throughout the University and to define responsibilities for managing them.
- Rick Benner, AIA, Director/University Architect, Office of Facilities Development and Capital Budget
The Office of Facilities Development and Capital Budget was recently established by consolidating Capital Planning and Development, Facilities Design and Construction Administration, and the Capital Budget Office.
In collaboration with Facilities Management, the Office of Facilities Development and Capital Budget provides leadership in planning, developing and budgeting for high value, quality, cost-effective facilities and grounds. We support the mission and strategic vision of Western, embrace our partnership with our community, and reinforce our stewardship of the environment.
Responsibilities include: master planning; capital planning; capital budget development and management; capital program oversight; facilities design; public works project/construction management; and campus aesthetics.
- Gayle Shipley, MS, Director, Environmental Health and Safety
Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) assists Western's departments in providing a healthy and safe environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. EHS facilitates compliance with federal, state, and municipal regulations regarding health, safety and the environment.
Responsibilities include: risk management; workers compensation; chemical, biological and radiological materials management; hazardous building materials management; indoor air quality; occupational safety; fire safety; environmental management; ergonomics; industrial hygiene; emergency planning; chemical spill response; and safety training.
- Randy Stegmeier, BS, Director, Public Safety
Public Safety provides a safe and secure environment within the Western community and protection of its property. It is composed of four departments: University Police; Parking Services; Sustainable Transportation; and University Lockshop.
- Chyerl Wolfe-Lee, BA, PHR, Director, Human Resources
The primary function of Human Resources is to provide human resource services for Western employees. The staff is committed to providing courteous, efficient service supportive of employees and Western's mission and goals, in compliance with Federal, State and University regulations.
These functions include: employee relations services; labor relations services; supervisory counseling/training; labor negotiations; payroll processing; benefits processing & counseling; training and organizational development; EASE: Electronic Application System for Employment; human resources information system support; classification/compensation management; and disability management.
- John Furman, PE, CFM, Director, Facilities Management
Facilities Management provides stewardship for Western’s campus community with Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence.
Responsibilities include: management of utilities, maintenance, in-house construction/renovations, energy conservation and real property; managing a large diverse work force with significant union involvement; and custodial services to all university state-funded facilities. In addition, responsible for providing similar self-sustaining services for university auxiliary building maintenance as requested.
