Biology Graduate Program

The diverse research interests of our faculty provide opportunities for students interested in a wide variety of topics, from molecular genetics to ecosystem ecology. Our proximity to marine, aquatic, forest, and alpine ecosystems enables students to work in a diverse array of habitats. Graduate students also have access to excellent facilities for marine research at the Shannon Point Marine Center. The Biology Department is well equipped with modern facilities, including walk-in environmental chambers and a core facility for DNA genotyping/sequencing. Graduates of our program have been successful in obtaining competitive jobs in industry, governmental and non-governmental agencies, and positions in top Ph.D. programs.
