The Wade King Student Recreation Center offers numerous opportunities for you to raise or keep your current fitness level. Take advantage of our personal trainers and fitness classes that range from aerobics to pilates to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. The Student Recreation Center also offers a variety of weight and cardio equipment!
Fall 2009 Fitness Announcements
GROUP X PASS
The Group X
Pass provides flexibility, multiple options and unlimited access. All Group X Pass classes will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participating capacities are based on room size, the availability of equipment and instructor discretion. Group X passes are good for any classes we offer, including the deep and shallow water aerobics classes, as long as space is available. Show your pass to the instructor prior to class, and have fun.

HOW DO I GET A PASS?
Purchase your pass at the Student Recreation Center front desk!
Passes will go on sale from September 29 through October 8 for $40. Classes run
from September 28 through December 6, except during Thanksgiving week. Passes can be
picked up from 9am-7pm Monday through Friday, and 2-5pm Sundays.
Important: If you lose your pass, you will be required to purchase another pass at full price.
DEMO WEEK
At the start of each quarter, the Student Recreation Center holds a fitness class Demo Week.
All classes are free during this week, giving you a chance to try any of our classes
before you purchase your Group X Pass. Demo Week for Fall Quarter
will take place September 28 through October 4.

- The Tuesday/Thursday Zumba class at 8:30 p.m. has been cancelled for the entire quarter.

The Student Recreation Center will be hosting two fitness instructor training sessions this fall:

Exercise Equipment Orientations
If you are interested in finding out more about the Student Recreation Center's fitness equipment with a free orientation, please e-mail Ron.Arnold@wwu.edu.
Orientations are available by appointment only on Mondays and Thursdays from 1:00pm to 9:00pm and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Instructional Class Refund Policy
Please note that absolutely no refunds will be given at any time. Group X Passes are non-transferable.Bod Pod
The Student Recreation Center now offers access to a Bod Pod body composition analyzing machine.
The Bod Pod is an egg-shaped chamber that uses air displacement technology to track body fat and lean mass.
Members who purchase any personal training services will receive a free Bod Pod session. To schedule an appointment, call Ron Arnold at (360) 650-4248.
Nutritionist
A registered dietician is available for free, confidential consultation through the Student Health Center. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call Jill Kelly at (360) 650-6254.
Employment Opportunities
Share your fitness experience with others! Apply for a Group Exercise/Fitness Instructor position at the Student Recreation Center.
- Fill out the General Application and circle the group fitness instructor position.
- Turn your application in at the reception desk of the recreation center.
