The Wade King Student Recreation Center offers numerous opportunities for you to raise or keep your current fitness level. Whether you want a one-on-one session with a personal trainer, to experience the many group fitness classes such as pilates, yoga, martial arts, or strength training, you will find many opportunities to maintain or increase your level of physical health and wellness at the Student Recreation Center.
The Student Recreation Center also features a wide variety of state-of-the-art weight and cardio equipment!
Winter 2014 Fitness Announcements
X Pass Group Fitness
The X Pass is a social and fun way to never get bored with your fitness routine. These group fitness classes allow participants to follow repetitive strength and cardio conditioning routines.
The X Pass provides flexibility, multiple options and unlimited access. All X Pass classes will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participating capacities are based on room size, the availability of equipment and instructor discretion.
The X Pass is good for any classes on the schedule posted below. Show your pass to the instructor prior to class, and have fun!
The cost for an X Pass for Winter Quarter has now been reduced to $30 for the remainder of the quarter! Purchase yours at the Recreation Center front desk.

12:10 Fitness Express
For those with a busy schedule, we are offering special Fitness Express classes starting at 12:10pm and lasting up to 50 minutes. And best of all, these classes are absolutely free for our members!

If you are busy and can’t commit to a quarter-long Group Fitness schedule, then you can purchase a $5 drop-in pass. This is good for any of the Group X Pass classes.
Just purchase your pass at the Student Recreation Center front desk and show the receipt to your instructor!
At the start of each quarter, the Student Recreation Center holds a fitness class Demo Week. All classes are free during Demo Week! We don’t want you to buy a service you’ve never experienced, so come try out the classes we offer for free! The dates for Demo Week for Spring Quarter 2014 will be announced soon.
Remember, during this week all the classes will be very crowded, but please be patient as everyone is getting the opportunity to experience our programs. The second week of classes is always calmer.
By the second week of classes either you need to have purchased an Group X Pass and show it for admittance into all Group X Pass classes, or have purchased a $5 single-use drop-in pass.
Individual Class Announcements
- There will be no group fitness classes over the President's Day holiday weekend (Saturday, Sunday and Monday).
- The Spin/Yoga class scheduled for Wednesdays and Fridays at 10am is cancelled for remainder of the the quarter.
Lunchtime is a great time to visit the Student Recreation Center, because all our fitness classes around that time are absolutely free for our members thanks to our Fit Express program! Among our wide array of group fitness classes, we are pleased to offer frequent Zumba classes at the Student Recreation Center. Zumba is an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party.
Zumba Fitness classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning students.

New Equipment & Classes at the Rec Center
New for the 2013 academic year, we have added a Synrgy360 training hub to the cardio workout area on the second floor of the Student Recreation Center. The Synrgy360 can help users of any fitness level achieve a variety of a goals, such as cardiovascular endurance, strength, coordination, agility and more! We are also excited to offer two FREE group fitness classes during Winter Quarter in the second floor West Cardio area to showcase all of the activities possible with the Synrgy360:
Class description: An intense but fun full-body circuit training workout that takes only 30 minutes. Train in a small group with a certified personal trainer utilizing our state-of-the-art Synrgy360 training system. Train with kettlebells, TRX suspension trainers, bodyweight movements, cable pulleys, battling ropes, and more. Modifications can be made for any fitness level and workout is self-paced. The class limited to 15 participants to maintain low student-to-instructor ratio.
Winter Quarter Class Times: Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays from 12:10-12:40pm and 4:00-4:55 p.m.
Ski & Snowboard Conditioning
Class description: This class will utilize different exercises available with the Synrgy360 to improve your conditioning and help to prevent knee injuries during your winter ski and snowboarding adventures. Be sure to check this class out before hitting the slopes this winter!
Winter Quarter Class Times: Tuesdays/Thursdays from 4:00-4:50 p.m.
