Intramural Sports


Campus Recreation Services provides Intramural Sports as an opportunity for current students, faculty and staff as well as current students from university affiliates such as Whatcom Community College and Bellingham Technical College to compete in a variety of organized competitive sports on the campus of Western Washington University. These programs exist to provide our participants with opportunities in:

  • Personal development in a variety of programs of leisure activity
  • Social interaction and the development of lasting relationships
  • Leadership skills in directing group participation
  • Voluntary participation, regardless of ability level, in an safe community
  • Establishing positive attitudes toward recreational activity to carry with them past graduation

Summer Quarter Intramurals

During Summer Quarter we are pleased to offer 6-on-6 soccer!

The 6-on-6 soccer league costs $70 per team to join. Please refer to our "How to Sign Up" section below for instructions on creating an IM Leagues account, signing up for an intramural sport, and paying for your team.

Sign-ups for Summer Quarter intramurals will run from June 16-26 and games will run from July 1 to August 8. For additional details about our intramurals, including schedules and sign-up information, please click on the IM Leagues logo to visit our page on IMLeagues.com.

Special Summer Quarter Eligibility: Please note that Summer Quarter intramurals have different eligibility requirements from intramurals held during the academic year. Please see the "Rules and Eligibility" section below for more information.

Rules and Eligibility

To compete during Summer Quarter, an individual must either be enrolled in at least one (1) credit at WWU, Northwest Indian College, Whatcom C.C., Bellingham Technical College, or be a faculty/staff member of WWU. Family members/significant others over the age of 18 are welcome during Summer Quarter. Teams must consist of at least 50% current student, faculty, or staff members to be eligible for play.

Ladder Sports

In addition to our intramural team sports, throughout the year we also offer ladder sports, including tennis, racquetball and ping pong, which operate in a different format. Click here to learn more about our ladder leagues.

Note: If your intramural team has games scheduled in the Student Recreation Center, non-members will have to pay for a single day pass or purchase a membership in order to enter the facility.
