Intramural Sports
Campus Recreation Services provides Intramural Sports as an opportunity for current students, faculty and staff as well as current students from university affiliates such as Whatcom Community College and Bellingham Technical College to compete in a variety of organized competitive sports on the campus of Western Washington University. These programs exist to provide our participants with opportunities in:
- Personal development in a variety of programs of leisure activity
- Social interaction and the development of lasting relationships
- Leadership skills in directing group participation
- Voluntary participation, regardless of ability level, in an safe community
- Establishing positive attitudes toward recreational activity to carry with them past graduation
Winter Quarter Intramurals
During
Winter Quarter we are offering the following sports and activities: 5-on-5 basketball, bowling, dodgeball, floor hockey, indoor soccer, pickleball, ping pong and
4-on-4 volleyball.
Our sports leagues cost $60 per team and our ping pong and pickleball ladder sports cost $5 per person.
Our bowling league takes place at 21st Century Bowl and costs $10 per person to sign up initially, and then $6 each time you play (for three games) plus $2 for shoe rental. Over the course of the six-week league, individuals would pay $36 to play plus $14 for shoe rental.

Viking Cup Championship
Starting this year, we are excited to start a tradition of awarding the best overall teams with the honor of winning the prestigious Viking Cup and having their team name engraved upon the cup.
The Viking Cup will be awarded to the four teams each year that, over the course of all three quarters, consistently performs the best. For more information on how the cup will be awarded, please read our Fall Quarter newsletter.

Participation Requirements
Participants of intramural sports at WWU should familiarize themselves with the following documents:
- Intramural Handbook (All participants must read)
- Common Questions (For team captains)
- Acknowledgement of Risk and Hold Harmless Agreement (Must be signed prior to participation)
Note: If your intramural team has games scheduled in the Student Recreation Center, non-members will have to pay for a single day pass or purchase a membership in order to enter the facility.
