Intramural Sports

Campus Recreation Services provides Intramural Sports as an opportunity for current students, faculty and staff as well as current students from university affiliates such as Whatcom Community College and Bellingham Technical College to compete in a variety of organized competitive sports on the campus of Western Washington University. These programs exist to provide our participants with opportunities in:

  • Personal development in a variety of programs of leisure activity
  • Social interaction and the development of lasting relationships
  • Leadership skills in directing group participation
  • Voluntary participation, regardless of ability level, in an safe community
  • Establishing positive attitudes toward recreational activity to carry with them past graduation

Fall Quarter Intramurals

During Fall Quarter we are pleased to offer the following intramural sports and activities:

  • Basketball
  • Flag Football
  • Spikeball  New for the 2015-16 school year!
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • 11-on-11 Soccer
  • 6-on-6 Soccer Res Hall League
  • Volleyball
  • Innertube Water Polo
  • Weekend Tournaments:
    • Dodgeball
    • Big Pink Volleyball
    • Madden, Fifa, Mario Kart

Our sport leagues cost $70 per team to join. Please refer to our "How to Sign Up" section below for instructions on creating an IM Leagues account, signing up for an intramural sport, and paying for your team.

The deadline to sign up for Fall Quarter intramurals is September 30 at Midnight and games will start the week of October 4. For additional details about our intramurals, including schedules and sign-up information, please click on the IM Leagues logo to visit our page on

How to Sign Up

Sign-ups for all intramural sports at WWU are done through the website Once your team is signed up on, you must complete the process by paying for your team at the Student Recreation Center front desk. Ladder Sports

In addition to our intramural team sports, throughout the year we also offer ladder sports, including tennis, racquetball and ping pong, which operate in a different format. Click here to learn more about our ladder leagues.

Note: If your intramural team has games scheduled in the Student Recreation Center, non-members will have to pay for a single day pass or purchase a membership in order to enter the facility.
