On-Campus Recruiting

How to Set Up a Schedule to Recruit on Campus

Employers may conduct on-campus interviews in the Career Services Center during Fall, Winter and Spring quarters. We have moved to an online recruiting application and scheduling process through Viking CareerLink.

Additional information can be found on our Viking CareerLink OCR How To Presentation.

Career Services currently offers three different options for scheduling on-campus interviews:

1. Open Schedule

Students and alumni interested in a posted position can apply and sign up for an interview time by accessing on-campus interviews through Viking CareerLink. Resumes and/or other requested application materials are submitted directly to the employer through the online On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) module. Employers are then able to view submitted documents and the final schedule before arriving on campus. This format is the most successful in maximizing the size and diversity of an applicant pool.

2. Pre-Select Schedule

Similar to above, students and alumni interested in a posted position can apply by accessing on-campus recruiting through Viking CareerLink. Resumes and/or other requested application materials are submitted directly to the employer through the online On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) module. Employers then pre-select a pool of candidates and invite those applicants to interview. Employers will direct selected applicants to sign up for a specific interview time through our website, and provide a list of candidate names to the Recruitment Coordinator who will monitor the on-line sign ups. This option requires the most lead-time prior to the interview date and results in a more targeted applicant pool.

3. Room Reservation Only

This option allows employers to choose to conduct interviews on-campus while taking full responsibility for collecting resumes, contacting candidates and scheduling interviews. Career Services merely reserves the interview space. While this option can be set-up very quickly, it also demands the most work on the part of the employer. Please contact the Recruitment Coordinator at (360) 650-2944 or careers@wwu.edu to reserve a room.

To achieve optimal turn out and results, please avoid scheduling your campus visit during "Dead Week" or Finals Week of each quarter. To review Western's academic calendar, click here.
