College of Humanities & Social Sciences (CHSS) Advancement Council Scholarship

The CHSS Advancement Council established this scholarship in 2011 to be awarded annually in the amount of $2,000 to support a student who plans to major in the humanities and/or in the social/behavioral sciences.  This scholarship is funded through the CHSS Advancement Council and the Dean's Fund for Excellence.

The scholarship reflects the desire of the CHSS Advancement Council to emphasize the value of a public liberal arts education and the importance of developing interdisciplinary education and the analytical skills it fosters.  In awarding this scholarship, the CHSS Advancement Council intends to support the academic endeavors of students with financial need.

Specific Criteria:

1. Essay will describe the value of a public liberal arts education and the importance of developing multidisciplinary analytical skills, and articulate applicant's commitment to community engagement.
