Arts & Sciences Woodring Award
The Arts and Sciences Woodring Scholarship was established in 1996 for students of exceptional talent enrolled in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) and the College of Sciences and Technology (CST). The scholarship is awarded “without regard to race, sex or religion, but to those students who, in the judgment of faculty members who know them, seem most likely to make substantial contributions to mankind as a result of their liberal education.” Amount to be awarded verified annually.
Department nomination:
due to CHSS Dean's office April 12, 2013
- Each department from CHSS and CST can nominate ONE student.
- Nominee will be a full time student and be either a junior or senior during the academic year of award.
- Department will provide CHSS Woodring scholarship application to its nominee. The department will forward the completed application and attach its supporting letter to CHSS.Scholarship@wwu.edu.
- Upon receipt of CHSS scholarship application, CHSS Dean's office will formally notify the student that his/her application will be considered.
Specific Criteria:
- Applicant must be junior or senior during the academic year of award.
- Essay that describes how the applicant anticipates making a substantial contribution to mankind as a result of a liberal education.
