Q:
I have noticed
people that have never had nosebleeds before, but after contracting Herpes
I, they began to have spontaneous nose bleeds. Can the virus cause sores
in the nasal cavity that can lead to bleeding?
A:
No, this is
not a common cause of nose bleeds. Herpes sores can bleed, but they are
usually very tender and self-limited, so the cause of the bleeding is
obvious. Once the herpes sores heal, there are no residual "sores" inside
the nose that bleed--instead the cause may be from other factors such as
mucus membrane drying, bacterial infection, or irritants (like smoke).
