Q:

My husband has bloody noses. They seem to coincide with him being very stressed, angry and worried. I have read on your site that they are caused by inflammation etc. But I am wondering are they or can they be a result of high blood pressure or hypertension? I would appreciate your opinion as the nose bleeds are adding to his worries and occur at times which cause some embarrassment to him. (e.g. at a restaurant or on a plane)

PS He has a family history of high blood pressure and has had several high readings just recently. His GP is monitoring it at the moment.

A:

It is possible they are related to hypertension but your husband's GP is the best judge of the most likely cause, and your husband needs to talk with his provider about it rather than feeling more stress about it.
