Q:
Doc,
I've been
on Nordette 28 for a year and a half now. I've never missed a period and
always start on Wednesday. This past month I did not have a period. I had
all the "symptoms" that I usually have at this time of the month, but a week
since I was suppose to start, nothing. I had some spotting before last Wed
(on Fri, Sat and Sun), but nothing after and since then. It's been two weeks
since my last sexual interaction. I've been a little more than normally
stressed lately with school and outside school things. Should I be
concerned? Do you think I should take a pregnancy test? I started my new
pack of pills as usual on Sunday. Any suggestions? Thanks!
A:
It sounds like
an unusual cycle for you, possibly stress related, but if you have not
missed any pills, the risk of pregnancy is low. I know it is hard to not
worry about it though, so you certainly can get a pregnancy test done now
to eliminate it from your worry list.
This can happen normally on the birth control pills but always is a little
disconcerting if you are used to a regular timed period.
