Dear Doc~

I have always had moderate to light periods, and I went on birth control pills in December. I just got my period and it is VERY light...to the point that I only have to use panty liners as protection. My period last month was the same. Is this normal? Should I be worried?

 

A:

This is normal for the low dose oral contraceptives. You are building a very minimal endometrial lining with the synthetic hormones, so there is minimal (and sometimes no) menses at the end of the cycle.
