Q:

I'm on ortho-tri cyclen right now and I would like to switch to Depo-Provera as an easier form of birth control. Are there any side effects to the switch and how much would it cost at the Student Health Center?

A:

Depo-provera is progesterone only contraception, and can lead to irregular bleeding, or no bleeding at all. It also may increase the risk of bone thinning (osteoporosis), so we inform you of those possibilities when you are considering a switch. The cost of Depo-provera at the Student Health Center is $50 per injection (every three months).
