Q:

I was on birth control for a year but I stopped taking it July 2003. The question is is that I haven't had my period since august. So I want to know if this is something that happens when you quit taking the pills or what.

A:

We presume you are not pregnant? That should be ruled out first.  If you are not pregnant, it is not unusual to go 2-3 months without a period after stopping birth control pills, but 6-7 months is far less common.  You should come in for evaluation as we recommend going no longer than 6 months without a period.
