Q:

I am not on my period but I have been spotting lately, could it be from changing birth control? I changed last month to Desogen. I have been on the pill for years and I have never spotted before. Does this happen during early stages of pregnancy? How probable is it that a person have their period during pregnancy?

A:

Yes, the change in birth control pill can cause spotting as the hormone dose level is probably different and your body is adjusting. But yes, spotting can also be a sign of pregnancy as over a third of pregnancies have bleeding in the first three months.
