Q:

I have been taking Zoloft for over two years now, but recently began to wean myself off of it. I have been down to the lowest dosage for several weeks now and have felt fine. About two days ago, I took my last pill and was feeling fine yesterday. However, this morning I began to have random dizzy spells. They are not severe and occur every few minutes. I was wondering if this could be a side effect of the drug's absence in my system, or if this might simply be an indication that I am coming down with some illness like a cold or the flu. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks.

It could be either one. People can be very sensitive to the change in medication levels in the brain, even when tapered slowly. If it is medication withdrawal, the symptoms will be gone in a day or two, but if getting worse, it is unlikely med related and you should be seen.
