Here is an update (I posted a question yesterday)...
This will be my 5th month on nuvaring, besides some breakthrough bleeding the first 2 months I've had no complications. I'm supposed to take the ring out tomorrow (Thursday) and then I normally start my period on that Saturday.
Yesterday I experienced a day of dark brown discharge with normal pre menstrual symptoms (headache, backache, cramps) so I just thought I may be early this month. However, I never actually bled and today the discharge seems to have returned to normal but I still have those pre menstrual symptoms.
Other info: the health center prescribed Duradrin for headaches for me and I occasionally take that but I've looked Duadrin and all its other names up to see if it affects birth control and I've found nothing. Also, I've been under a considerable amount of stress lately.
What could these symptoms mean?

Likely the discharge was dark because there a little bit of blood in it, and that yes, in that sense, you were bleeding just a little early. All in all it does not sound worrisome, but we cannot tell you for sure what is going on without being examined. Come in for an appt if it persists, OK?
