Q:
What happens during a breast reduction? And what are the consequences? Will I still be able to nurse when I have kids? And are there really bad scars and flabby skin after?
A:
Breast reduction surgery removes some but not all the mammary glands and some women nurse successfully afterwards, but you want to work with a surgeon who understands this is a priority for you. Scars are generally hidden under the breast, in the fold and redundant skin is removed.
It is major surgery with significant risk and only covered by insurance if you have medical, not cosmetic, reasons for the breast reduction.
