Q:
I'm currently on the birth control pill and was wondering what other birth control options I have. Are these options available at the student health center?
A:
There are other hormonal contraceptive options, including the NuvaRing and OrthoEvra patch, both of which are available at the Student Health Center. We also do the every 3 month Depo-Provera injection.
There are also barrier methods available, including cervical cap, diaphragm and spermicide/condoms, all available at the Student Health Center.
Some students are interested in the IUD, which we are able to do at the Student Health Center, but it is not the best option for everyone.
Lastly there is the Implanon hormonal implant, which we do not offer at the Student Health Center.
For an informational session on all these options, you can make a free appointment with a Peer Sexual Health Adviser (PSHE) by calling 650-3400 and talk with the receptionist.
