Q:
Over the summer I began experiencing painful burning during urination and a unpleasant smell. I went to my family doctor and he noted a very high white blood cell count in my urine. He tested me for chlamydia but I came up negative. I found that the only thing that made my symptoms subside was pills of cranberry concentrate. All my symptoms are gone now but I still don't know what I had. I don't want to be sitting on a dormant problem so any information on what this could be would be great.
A:
We'd recommend you have another urine evaluated even if you don't have symptoms, to make sure the white cells are gone. It is not clear from your question whether your physician treated you for a bladder infection, which is the most likely cause of your symptoms. This is something we see with great frequency, so we'd be glad to help.
