Q:
I have been on OC for the past 8 months and recently have started to have the feeling of pins and needles on my back and sometimes chest whenever I increase my heartbeat. I am wondering if this has to do with the birth control and if I should see a doctor. I also have asthma, could it have to do with that?
A:
The pins and needles feelings are unlikely related to your oral contraceptives but are unusual so should be evaluated. It sounds like it happens with exercise if you are experiencing it "whenever I increase my heartbeat", which may mean you are hyperventilating, or possibly you are having side effects from asthma medication. It's best to check it out.
