I feel constipated pretty much all the time. I only go to the bathroom every other day on average, but some times it will be every 2 days. When I do go it isn't satisfying, I feel like I still have to go. Is there a reason for this? should I go see a Doctor?
A:
Try increasing your fluid intake and natural fiber, like psyllium powder (metamucil) or bran cereal and that often will improve bowel movement frequency and feeling less urgency. Stool softeners that are over the counter, like docusate, are also safe to take daily.
If it is not helping, then we should evaluate you.
