Q:
I had a rash on my groin area for over a year, I finally looked into it and found that it could be a yeast infection so I treated it as such and it went away. I am wondering if there is any harm or danger in having a yeast infection for so long?
A:
Yeast is a natural resident in our intestines and on our skin. When it causes rash, it doesn't cause any long term issues other than the itching and discomfort, and sometimes discoloration because of the inflammation.
Sounds as if you took care of it appropriately. If it recurs, there are prescription medication that can be helpful as well as the over the counter creams.
