When I got my ears pierced, the right one was always getting infected. I eventually decided to just let the holes close up because I didn't want to deal with it. It has been about a year since I stopped wearing earrings and my right ear still has a huge lump in it that has not gone away. Is this just scar tissue or do I need to worry about this?

 

A:

It is granulation scar tissue and is unlikely to go away on its own. Some people decide to have plastic surgery to have it removed but it is not necessary.
