Q:
So, normally my period is from the 18th or so to the 25th or so. I got my period January 7th and it lasted until the 14th. Now I am having my period again with light bleeding yesterday and stronger bleeding today, but there is an absence of cramps which I always have. I was taking a birth control pill from June through December, but due to circumstances I stopped taking it a couple of days into December and until the first week of January. In that time I had a sex once. Is there any good reason why this is happening? Throughout the entire time I was on the pill before it stopped my period completely, and if I wanted it I would have to stop taking it. Also, my period is really regular.
A:
Stopping the pill does throw off your bleeding cycle but you will want to be pregnancy tested to be sure your irregular bleeding is not due to an early pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy. If your pregnancy test is negative, then stay on your pills as you would ordinarily take them and you should get back to a normal pattern in two or three cycles. If not, you will need to be seen to rule out pelvic infection, ovary problems and hormone imbalances.
