Q:
I have been waking up some mornings with a stinging in the corner of my right eye and Visine does not help. It wears off during the day, but is very painful in the morning. The stinging lessens when I close my eyes. They are not red, not producing anything, nor have I touched it with anything.
My guess is that I overslept, but I don't know. Is this possible?
A:
More likely you are sleeping with your eyes partially open and they are drying. You can try wearing a sleep mask to keep your eyes closed, or use artificial tears several times a day to keep them well lubricated. If persisting, you need an eye exam with a specialist.
