Q:
Starting yesterday afternoon I have had a weird pain and uncomfort in my stomach/ab area. It is not a stomach ache or nausea that I have had in the past. It is more of an uncomfortable feeling that hurts when I move or breathe in heavily. I would describe it as a tightness sort of and it I am not experiencing any nausea or anything of that sort. I was wondering if it is possible to strain a muscle in your stomach or abs or if this was related to another medical symptom, illness or situation?
A:
This is a very difficult question to respond to in an online forum as there are many questions we would ask you to help figure this out. First, it isn't clear where you are feeling the tightness since "stomach/ab" could be anywhere in your abdomen. Yes, you can have abdominal muscle strain which causes discomfort, but that is best diagnosed by exam.
