Q:
I'm curious as to whether I have a urinary tract infection or not. It doesn't burn when I pee, but my urethra has been feeling irritated for the past two days and it has been quite uncomfortable. I feel the urge to pee to get rid of this irritation, but it has yet to go away. Do you think it's a UTI? Should I get it checked out?
A:
It might just be a localized urethral irritation but if you are sexually active, you might have a urethral infection from chlamydia or gonorrhea, or a herpes infection. Urinary tract infections don't have to have symptoms of pain in the bladder, but may simply be an urgent feeling.
It would be wise to be seen --call 650-3400 for a same day appointment.
