Q:
My mom was just told she had strep throat last week, and I went home for the weekend and she was fine. And as of this morning I have the worst sore throat I have ever had. I also have mild chest congestion. Is strep something that can be helped with antibiotics? Or either way do I just need to wait and get over it on my own?
A:
It is best for you to be strep tested here at the clinic--it takes only 10 minutes and yes, it is important to treat it with antibiotics if it is positive.
