Q:
I know that your not supposed to do weight training everyday but is it okay if I work out with 5lbs dumbbells everyday (while watching tv etc...)to strengthen my arms faster and to get some exercise even while chillin...Also I was wondering if it would be good strength training techinique to put weights in a back-pack and to walk around with it all day (losing weight in the process)?
A:
Working out with 5 pound dumbbells every day is fine. It is usually not a good idea to do "heavy" weight training on the same area of the body on successive days, but with the light weights there should be no problem.
The "weights in the backpack" routine is probably ot goingto be a problem, but I would not do it all day, every day. Carrying weights around, while exercising, leads to development of postural and muscle use modifications, which can be counter-productive. I'd advise separating the walking/running from the weight training.
Good luck with your exercise program. Exercise is GOOD for you!!
