Q:
I got an IUD 6 months ago and it has been fine. A few times a day I feel like it is poking me. It causes pain for a second of 2 then goes away. I also just had my back x-rayed to check my spine and my IUD is facing the back of my body, towards my butt. Is it normal for an IUD to move around in my uterus? Could that be causing my pain?
A:
You shouldn't be aware of the IUD at all. if you are having discomfort, it is unlikely due to the IUD, but IUDs do migrate and penetrate through the wall of the uterus. Do you still feel the string in the vagina?
