Q:
My husband and I recently started using condoms as our method of birth control. Every time we have sex (four times so far), my husband says he has pain in the inside of the end of his penis. We are not using spermicide or any specially flavored condoms or "warming" lube or anything like that. I'm pretty sure we're using the condoms correctly. What could be causing this?
(It's not a ploy to stop using condoms. He's pretty motivated about not having a baby, but he doesn't want me to take birth control pills because he says there's no reason to use chemicals when there are non-chemical methods (condoms).)
A:
Make sure he is leaving enough room at the tip of the condom for the ejaculate to collect without pressure of semen backing up into the urethra during orgasm. The other possibility is latex sensitivity, although that would be more of an issue of skin rash on the penis itself.
