Q:
I have been going through some personal matters for a while now and I just can't seem to feel happy anymore. I have been very stressed, unable to focus on things, I don't feel happy and I feel like I am faking my emotions just to look like I am happy. I have been to the counciling center and that doesn't seem to help. I believe I am depressed and I'm not sure what to do about it seeing as how nothing else has worked. What do I do?
A:
If you feel counseling has not been beneficial, you certainly can make an appointment for a mental health evaluation with one of our mental health providers in the Student Health Center by calling 650-3400 for an appointment. A history, physical assessment, including lab work, is recommended and potential medication therapy is discussed. There are certainly different ways people recover from depression and stress, so there is not a "one fix fits all". We are happy to try to help.
