Q:
Three weeks ago, a painful lump appeared on my right inner thigh, about five inches above my knee. It was, however, under my skin; it was not a topical bump or rash. It was extremely sensitive at the time, but has since shrunk and become less of a bother. At first I thought that it was just an inflamed lymph node because I was currently battling a cold. Over the last few weeks the lump has decreased in size and become less sensitive, but has turned a darker blue/purple. Further, the skin on my leg directly above it is now really dry. I'm just wondering if this is something that I should get checked, or whether it will go away on its own.
A:
It does sound like it is resolving, and might have been a broken blood vessel, now discoloring. It doesn't sound like an infection. If it is not going away completely over the next week or so, we should take a look.
