Q:
How much does it cost to get tested for a gluten intolerance? And when could I get in?
A:
There is no certain test for gluten intolerance, only blood tests that, if positive, suggest celiac disease is a possibility so elimination of gluten from the diet could be helpful. A biopsy of the intestine really is the most specific test but is obviously invasive and expensive.
We can draw blood tests gliadin and endomysial antibodies for send out to the lab and it can cost over $100, but would be covered under insurance if you have insurance. Call 650-3400 to make an appointment with a provider.
