Q:
I woke up this morning feeling a dry throat, constantly wanting to swallow something that is not there. I have had strep before and this is what it feels like, however I don't have any other symptoms of strep throat or a cold/flu. Do I appear to have strep, and if so, how do you think I got it, and how is it spread?
A:
A dry throat can be from allergies, viruses, or bacteria like strep. We can do a rapid strep test in the clinic to rule that out and evaluate whether there are other possible causes.
