Q:
In high school I had eating disorder problems and they went away for a while, but over the summer they came back and got pretty bad. Once school started though I've gone back to some pretty normal eating habits. But in the back of my mind I'm still worried about them coming back. I feel like I need counseling or something like that to get help. But I'm not sure exactly where to start the process of how. And I'm very nervous about it. And at the same time I feel that counseling would be helpful to figure out and sort out other events in my past, help me figure out who I am.
So I guess my question is just where do I start..how..what do I do?
A:
You have already started, simply by reaching out and asking the question!
A good place to start at WWU is with the Counseling Center, where you can have a free intake with one of the therapists and they will help you determine what kind of ongoing support would be most helpful to you. They are great folks, skilled clinicians and very familiar with eating disorder struggles.
It really will get better with help from professionals who understand what you are going through.
